A and B are playing C and D in four ball match play - no
handicap strokes. When all four get to the green, C and D putt in for 6. C and
D concede B's putt for a 5 and A picks up his ball. He would have been putting
for a 4.
When they get to the next tee box, B and D realize that
somewhere on the last hole they hit each other's balls and played out the hole
with them.
What is the result of the hole?

If the error is discovered before anyone tees off on the
following hole, Player A should return to the previous green, replace his ball,
and putt. If he had picked up his marker, he would have to add a one-stroke penalty to his score. If he scores less than 6, Team A-B wins the hole; if he scores 6, it
is halved; if he scores 7, Team C-D wins the hole.
If play has already begun on the next hole, side C-D wins the hole, since C is the only player who has completed the hole. B and D were disqualified, and A picked up.
